The POETS' THEATRE invites Canada's Poet Laureate to Boston, October 9-14

Louise Bernice Halfe, aka Sky Dancer,  is Canada's first indigenous (Cree Nation) writer to be named Poet Laureate. Among other things she is a survivor of the hideous "Residential Schools" where for decades the government farmed out tribal children to the tender mercies of Catholic nuns and priests. The trauma the kids suffered was not just sexual and physical abuse, it was an attempt at cultural erasure, to wipe the "indian" out of the children. Sky Dancer's poetry draws on the deep wells of sorrow the seven years caused her and her family. The best opportunity for Poets' Theatre supporters to meet and hear Louise is the the Museum of Science, 7pm Wednesday October 11. Free, but you need to register at MOS.org.
